An Advent calendar is a special calendar used to count the days of Advent in anticipation of Christmas. Since the date of the First Sunday of Advent varies, falling between November 27 and December 3 inclusive, many Advent calendars, especially those that are reusable, often begin on December 1, although those that are produced for a specific year often include the last few days of November that are part of the liturgical season. The Advent calendar was first used by German Lutherans in the 19th and 20th centuries.
2021 brings a new holiday themed advent calendar, with yarn and treats to open each day from 1st December to the 24th December. The yarn will arrive in little bags, string and pegs will be in the box ready to hang the advent.
Your advent calendar will include 12 beautifully packaged 20g fingering weight mini skeins. The yarn is 75% super wash merino , 25% nylon, 85m per 20g giving a total of 240g 1,020m. The mini skeins will be dyed exclusively for this advent and will coordinate together. As usual the box will include a shawl pattern designed exclusively for this advent, but the yarn will also be suitable for other projects you choose. Day 1 and alternate days will include a mini skein, the other days will contain little gifts for you to enjoy.
The yarn is hand painted using environmentally friendly dyes , And is sourced from either the UK or South America.
The dye Process: We use non-toxic acid dyes .The dye process has very little waste , and all of the dyes are exhausted into yarns before any water is poured away. I use food grade citric acid as setting agent, and rinse with water, to maintain a low impact on the environment. i take care to provide colourfastness, but some bleeding may occur in the first wash.
The advents will be mailed at the end of October/beg of November to allow time to arrive in time for advent.
