The theme for this years sock box is “famous landmarks around the world “ Our world is such a fascinating place with amazing landmarks both natural and man made .Each month we travel this wonderful planet exploring and learning about the country and it’s famous landmark
This months famous landmark is close to my home 'Cheddar Gorge' .Cheddar Gorge is a limestone gorge in the Mendip Hills, near the village of Cheddar, Somerset, England. The gorge is the site of the Cheddar show caves, where Britain's oldest complete human skeleton, Cheddar Man, estimated to be over 9,000 years old, was found in 1903.
The yarn is hand hand painted using environmentally friendly dyes , And is sourced from either the UK or South America.
The dye Process: We use non-toxic acid dyes .The dye process has very little waste , and all of the dyes are exhausted into yarns before any water is poured away. I use food grade citric acid as setting agent, and rinse with water, to maintain a low impact on the environment. i take care to provide colourfastness, but some bleeding may occur in the first wash.
Each box will contain a skein of hand dyed fingering weight yarn suitable for making socks and high quality gifts to match the theme .
The other photographs show a selection of previous sock boxes .
All sock boxes will be mailed by the end of may to allow gifts to be made by other crafters but are usually mailed sooner.
