The theme for 2020 sock box is Children's popular story books. My children and now their children love either having stories read to them or reading themselves. There are so many amazing children's books around its going to be so hard to decide which ones to choose .
This months book is a huge favourite with my grandchildren.
Thomas the Tank Engine is an anthropomorphised fictional steam locomotive in The Railway Series books by the Reverend Wilbert Awdry and his son, Christopher, published from 1945. He became the most popular and famous character in the series, and is the titular protagonist in the accompanying television spin-off series Thomas & Friends.
Thomas is a blue steam engine and has a number 1 painted on his side. All of the locomotives in The Railway Series were based on prototypical engines; Thomas first appeared in 1946 in the second book in the series, Thomas the Tank Engine, and was the focus of the four short stories contained within. Thomas's best friends are Percy and Toby.
.The yarn is hand hand painted using environmentally friendly dyes , And is sourced from either the UK or South America.
The dye Process: We use non-toxic acid dyes .The dye process has very little waste , and all of the dyes are exhausted into yarns before any water is poured away. I use food grade citric acid as setting agent, and rinse with water, to maintain a low impact on the environment. i take care to provide colourfastness, but some bleeding may occur in the first wash.
Each box will contain a skein of hand dyed fingering weight yarn suitable for making socks and high quality gifts to match the theme. The boxes will be mailed by the middle of November to allow for gifts to be made by other crafters.
